Gone but certainly never forgotten, legendary Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor died of a gunshot wound seven years ago today.

Known for his hard-hitting play on the gridiron, Taylor appeared in 53 games with the Redskins, recording 299 tackles, 12 interceptions and eight fumbles forced.

Off the field, he’s still a player Redskins Nation holds dear to its heart:

NFL Network in September did a beautiful job depicting Taylor’s aptitude on the field while also showing his role as a father and loving son off of it.
