Redskins Say Thank You To Veterans

Lt. J.G. Elizabeth Auckland makes sure that her base in Spain knows who she’s supporting — the Washington Redskins.

Lt. J.G. Auckland told The Redskins Blog that whether its waking up early in the morning or staying up late into the night, she’s proudly rooting on her Redskins halfway across the world.

“I’ve been proudly serving our great nation for the past 23 years and still going,” she said. “I am currently stationed in Spain and catch every game thanks to NFL Game Pass. I’ve been a fan since birth….it’s a family thing going back to my grandfather – also a veteran of the Navy.

“I’ve stayed up late to catch the 4 p.m. Sunday games and gotten up early to catch the primetime games (I’m six hours ahead here in Spain).”

Lt. J.G. Auckland said that every Friday she wears some sort of Redskins gear at work and “every Monday I go to work hoarse from yelling at the TV!”

“In all my years I’ve never been stationed close to FedExField to watch my beloved ‘Skins, but have managed to catch them twice at away games: once when stationed in Key West and drove up to watch them play the Dolphins and once when stationed in Bremerton and they played the Seahawks.  I love the Redskins and support them win or lose.”

She also had one final message before Sunday’s game.

“Here’s to a win against the Bucs and every remaining game!!  Hail to the Redskins!!”

Current Washington Redskins cornerback David Amerson and franchise legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Darrell Green on Friday met at Redskins Park.

Amerson, getting ready to go through practice with his teammates, listed to Green as he provided some words of support and wisdom.

Drafted by the Redskins in the 2013 NFL Draft, Amerson has 37 tackles through nine games this season.

Green, of course, was drafted by the Redskins as well and spent his entire 20-year career in Washington.

No word on if Green had a Tootsie Roll in his sock during his chat with Amerson.

From The Super Bowl XXII logo to several different players being prominently featured, the Redskins fan that owns this shirt can literally walk around with part of the franchise’s history.

The Redskins, of course, would pound the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXII, putting up 42 points including 35 in the second quarter.

This all came after climbing out of the largest deficit in Super Bowl history, as the Redskins were trailing 10-0 after the first frame.

Washington got on the board earlier in the second quarter, though, with an 80-yard connection between Doug Williams and Ricky Sanders. Then, Williams would find Gary Clark for a 27-yard strike to give the Redskins the lead.

Timmy Smith would find the end zone next, dashing past the Broncos for a 58-yard score.

Late in the quarter, Williams would find Sanders for a second time, and then Clint Didier as well.

In the fourth quarter, Smith would score his second touchdown of the day, capping off a magnificent performance by the Redskins in the process.

The Art Monk photo on the center of the shirt comes from the Redskins’ Super Bowl XXVI victory over the Buffalo Bills.

So, a few Redskins staffers and players went to watch “Dumb & Dumber To” last night, and noticed something interesting and cool in the background during the second half of this hilarious movie.

While unconfirmed to this point, we believe we saw a Redskins helmet/logo and possibly some extras in the background wearing a couple Redskins players’ jerseys.

While we work on reaching out to the “Dumb & Dumber To” folks, here’s a callout to you, Redskins Nation: have you seen the movie yet? If so, did you notice this in the background? Leave us a comment and let us know what you saw!

If you haven’t seen the movie yet — but are planning on it today or the rest of the weekend — feel free to fill us in via the comments below with your observations.

Reddit on Thursday announced some changes to their platform, most notably that co-founder Alexis Ohanian has return.

For those of you unfamiliar with reddit, it is an open, online platform where millions of users have created communities and shared content.

Ohanian explained on the site that he’s returning as Executive Chairman after spending the last four years in more of an advisory role.

Now at a little over nine years old, with thousands of communities, reddit is at an amazing inflection point and I’m thrilled to return to help it achieve all that it can. We’ve got a lot of work to do: mobile, user experience, and community tools are on the top of our list, but as always, we can’t do it without you.

Ohanian is also a die-hard Redskins fan.

As told on his website AlexisOhanian.com, he “Loves hummus, the Washington Redskins, the Brooklyn Nets, his cat, and his girlfriend.”

So it makes sense that the Redskins became the first NFL team to partner with reddit for Ask Me Anythings (AMAs).

At the time of the announcement Ohanian joked, “I’m going to do my best to not fanboy…too much.”
