Established in 2008, USO-Metro created its Turkey for Troops program to assist lower enlisted military families with the acquisition of the ingredients necessary to provide a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Also part of the program is the opportunity to purchase a gift card for these service members in need that will be used to buy a fresh turkey.

The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and Redskins Salute on Tuesday participated in USO-Metro’s Turkey for Troops Telethon, which was on WUSA-9.

Running back Alfred Morris, fullback Darrel Young, tight end Niles Paul, offensive lineman Shawn Lauvao and safety Akeem Davis were present, as they answered phones and accepted donations as a way to give thanks to local servicemen and servicewomen and their families.
