Pierre Garcon has fought for everything he’s received. That started during his days as a youngster in Florida.
The 6-foot, 216-pound wide receiver — now in his third season with the Washington Redskins — grew up playing with his friends at his local church in Belle Glade, avoiding problems that plagued some in the area.
At the time, Garcon was actually one of the smallest kids there and usually one of the last selected during pickup football games.
But, for what he didn’t have in size, he made up for it in speed, heart and determination:
Garcon, of course, would end up breaking Pro Football Hall of Famer Art Monk’s franchise record for single-season receptions in 2013 with 113 catches.
Through nine games this season, the Mount Union product has recorded 42 receptions for 458 yards and three touchdowns.
