The Washington Redskins on Friday flew to Phoenix, Ariz., two days before their Week 6 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals.

Rare Cover For 2001 ‘Gameday Magazine’ Between Redskins-Cardinals

From 1970 to 2001, the Cardinals franchise was a member of the NFC East, making them a divisional rival of the Washington Redskins for quite some time.

In 2001 – the final season in the NFC East for the Cardinals – the two were supposed to face-off at FedExField on Sept. 16, 2001 for Week 2 action.

That game was not played as scheduled, though, as the NFL postponed that weekend’s slate just days after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

While the game was eventually played on Jan. 6, 2002 at FedExField, below is the cover for Gameday Magazine that was going to be sold during Week 2:

NASCAR’s Birthday Gallery For Dale Earnhardt Jr. Features Redskins

The Washington Redskins earlier today wished lifelong fan Dale Earnhardt Jr. a happy 40th birthday.

Just a few hours later, NASCAR released a photo gallery entitled “40 at 40: Dale Jr. Through The Years” that looks back at his time in the spotlight, dating back to the days when he was just a youngster looking up to his father, Dale Earnhardt Sr.

Scroll on through to photo No. 36, and you’ll see this awesome shot of Junior holding up a Robert Griffin III jersey standing next to the man himself.

Washington Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon’s new restaurant, Spinfire Pizza, had its grand opening last night, and several of his teammates swung by to try some food and mingle with the fans.

Diehard Washington Redskins fan and NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. is celebrating his birthday today!

When he isn’t tradin’ paint on the racetrack, Earnhardt Jr. can be found tweeting about the Redskins, playing with the team on ‘Madden’ and at FedExField to watch the team play.
