Washington Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon’s toughness is continually demonstrated on game days, as shoulders off opposing defensive backs and fights for extra yardage when the ball is in his possession.

As told to USAFootball.com, this playing style began when he was a youth football player in Florida.

“I definitely learned a lot about preparing and being tough, both mentally and physically,” Garcon said. “It helped me get into the right mind set and get my body right, too, just wanting to go out there and accomplish tasks to help your team.”

Garcon said that younger players should enjoy the opportunity to play and learn the sport and not worry too much about playing time early on.

“That’s my No. 1 tip for young guys: Don’t get too frustrated out there, have fun and play different positions when you’re young,” he said. “See what you like to do, work hard at it, prepare and don’t take anything for granted.”
