Salute To Service Moment Of The Week

During the first quarter of the Washington Redskins Week 5 game against the Seattle Seahawks, Chief Petty Officer Brian E. Clontz and Petty Officer Duskin A. Deichl were honored on the field.

Clontz, a lifelong Redskins fan who grew up in Waldorf, Md., has served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 15 years. Clontz recently returned from the Middle East, where he served as the engineering officer for a Coast Guard Cutter.

He is Coast Guard Sector Baltimore’s senior enlisted coordinator for the Joint Services National Capital Region Noncommissioned Officer and Petty Officer Professional Development Course.

Clontz credits his wife Lisa and his son Mateo for their love and support during his time of service.

Petty Officer Deichl, meanwhile, is a Marine Science Technician working as a Port State Control Examiner at Coast Guard Sector Baltimore.

Before assuming duties of that position, she served in Portsmouth, Va.

She also served in Kodiak, AK where she spent four years as a patrol officer.

Petty Officer Deichl was Coast Guard Sector Baltimore’s Enlisted Person of the Year in 2013.

E.J. Biggers, DeSean Jackson Wear Special Cleats Dedicated To Breast Cancer Awarness

Washington Redskins cornerback E.J. Biggers wore special cleats during Monday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks, bearing the names of two people dear to him that have been impact by breast cancer.

The first was for Vee – his godmother who passed away from breast cancer – while the second was for Mrs. Rammings, a grandmotherly figure to Biggers who has battled breast cancer for more than six years.

Redskins Host Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Game

The Washington Redskins on Monday hosted their annual Breast Cancer Awareness game at FedExField against the Seattle Seahawks.

Redskins players wore pink-colored accessories including gloves, cleats, compression sleeves and decals, while coaches and referees were wearing pink game apparel and certain on-field and in-stadium branding components were colored pink.

Apparel worn last night and throughout the month by players and coaches, along with special game balls and pink coins, will be auction off with proceeds benefitting the American Cancer Society’s Community Health Advocates National Grants for Empowerment (CHANGE) program.

Fans, meanwhile, were given THINK-PINK! ribbons and breast cancer awareness educational materials from Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA) members.

More On DeSean Jackson From Week 5

Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson on Monday scored his 19th career touchdown covering 50 yards or longer, hauling in a 60-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter of the team’s Week 5 game against the Seattle Seahawks.

He followed up that scoring play by logging a 57-yard reception early in the third quarter.

In total, Jackson would finish the evening with 5 receptions for 157 yards and a touchdown.
