Ryan Clark On Stopping Seattle’s Playmakers

Posted by Stephen Czarda on October 3, 2014 – 10:34 am

Washington Redskins safety Ryan Clark is ready for the challenge of stopping the Seattle Seahawks’ versatile offense.

The 13-year veteran on Thursday discussed at length the defense’s matchup with a Seahawks offense  headlined by quarterback Russell Wilson, running back Marshawn Lynch and wide receiver Perry Harvin.

Check out what he had to say about each below:

On Russell Wilson:

“I think where he excels – understanding how not to hurt his team is where he makes a difference. He’s savvy beyond his years as far as staying and understanding the quarterback position.”

On Marshawn Lynch:

“As the game goes on and as he continues to pound on defenses, he starts to break more tackles, starts to break more runs. So for us, it’s a game of attrition, it’s also a game that we have to continue to be tough.”

On Percy Harvin:

“One guy in open field is not good enough to bring down Percy Harvin. We have to understand that as a defense. So running to the ball, defensive linemen getting out of their rushes, getting out of their lanes, running to the ball is going to be huge for us this week.”
