Dale Earnhardt Jr. Recalls Memories From First Redskins Game Watched

Posted by Stephen Czarda on September 30, 2014 – 1:59 pm

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s first memory of the Washington Redskins was on Jan. 30 1983, when Pro Football Hall of Famer John Riggins dashed past the entire Miami Dolphin defense for a 43-yard touchdown in Super Bowl XVII.

The Redskins, of course, would win that game by a final of 27-17 — the first of three Super Bowl victories.

Junior talked about the play and his continued support of the Redskins with CSN Washington:

“First game I really remember watching was the Super Bowl against Miami,” Earnhardt Jr. told CSN Washington. “When John ran around the edge to put them ahead– that was just such a unique play. Even at a young age, I knew there was something special there. I was like ‘That’s my team, those guys are cool!’

“I’ve always been a fan, and always will be.”

that was a great game!! I see that the FCC wants to ban the nickname “Redskins” on any public tv. Our formerly great country takes another step towards complete pussification!!
While watching the K.C. vs NE game, the Kansas fans were doing the tomahawk chop. They had watch out, ’cause they are next to be attacked.
