Service Members Honored By USAA, Redskins At Regular Season Opener

During the first quarter of the Washington Redskins’ 41-10 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars at FedExField, Private Jose Perez and Corporal Nathaniel Jakusz were honored for their service in front of more than 80,000 fans.

Perez, who is fulfilling his lifelong dream of serving the United States in the U.S Army, is stationed at Fort Myer in Arlington, Va.

After his years of service, Perez hopes to attend college and pursue a degree in Law Enforcement. Eventually, combining his time in the military with his educational background, Perez wants to work for Homeland Security, either in counter terrorism or as a police officer.

Jakusz, meanwhile, is stationed at Headquarters Marine Corps Intelligence Department in Arlington, Va.

Before enlisting in the Marine Corps, Jakusz resided in the Chicago area where he was a first responder.

He was recently recognized for his continued superior performance with Marine of the Quarter Board at Headquarters Marine Corps, Headquarters and Service Battalion, Henderson Hall.
