Washington Redskins rookie linebacker Trent Murphy — who recorded an NCAA-high 15 sacks last year –notched his first sack of the preseason last week on Baltimore Ravens quarterback Tyrod Taylor.

“We had great pressure up the middle,” Murphy said after the game. “I bull-rushed the right tackle back into his pocket. (Taylor) tried to escape outside and then I grabbed my hand on him, wrapped him, and took him down.”

He continued by saying he’s excited to get in more game work tonight vs. Tampa Bay before the season opener Sept. 7 against the Houston Texans.

“I’m definitely still going to take it one day at time and get this last preseason in,” Murphy said. “I’m so excited.”
