#WASvsTB: Fourth Quarter Summary

Posted by Stephen Czarda on August 28, 2014 – 9:49 pm

Danny Lansanah, Nate Askew, Nick Williams

The Washington Redskins entered the fourth quarter of their preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers winning 17-10. While the Buccaneers were able to put points on the scoreboard during the third quarter, the highlight play came from the Redskins, as rookie running back Lache Seastrunk sprinted past the Buccaneer defense for an 80-yard touchdown reception.

What did he do individually in the fourth quarter? Did the Redskins claim victory for the third time in the preseason?

Find out below:

Redskins’ Ninth Drive Continued

Silas Redd carries the ball for the first two plays of the second half, before Colt McCoy zings another pass in Aldrick Robinson’s direction for an eight-yard gain. 2nd-and-2 from the 18-yard line, and Lache Seastrunk carries the ball. The Redskins cannot convert on third down, and Zach Hocker is out for a 39-yard field goal attempt.

He does not convert, but the Redskins still lead 17-10.

Buccaneers’ Ninth Drive

Demps notches another carry for a gain of three yards. Mike Kafka completes a pass to Solomon Patton for a first down, but Trenton Robinson is right there to give up no yards after catch. On the first down play, Buccaneers are called for a penalty. Now 1st-and-15. Demps is swallowed up for no gain. On second down, Patton drops the ball, covered by Richard Crawford. On third down, Demps fumbles, but the Buccaneers recover the ball. Still, it will be fourth down and the punt team is out.

Nick Williams lined up for the return.

Redskins’ 10th Drive

On the first play, McCoy zeros in on a wide-open Ryan Grant for a FIRST DOWN! 31-yard gain. Next play, another Grant reception for a FIRST DOWN! 11-yard gain. On a 1st-and-2o pass, McCoy hits Grant once again on the drive, this time for nine yards. The first run of the drive is from Seastrunk, who bolts up the field for a 14-yard gain and a FIRST DOWN! Next play, McCoy rolls out on a play action fake and hits Nick Williams for an eight-yard gain. A few plays later, Redd carries the ball for 10 yards down to the one-yard line! So close! But, he finishes off his work on the next play for a TOUCHDOWN!

Extra point is GOOD!

Redskins 24, Buccaneers 10
