#WAS-BAL: First Quarter Summary

The Washington Redskins on Saturday hit the road for the first time during the 2014 preseason, traveling north to take on the Baltimore Ravens.

Head coach Jay Gruden said earlier this week that the starters would get significant playing time vs. Baltimore, playing “at least” the first half.

The Raven defense presents the Redskin offense with a tough test, as they have been built on stopping opponents for years now. Quarterback Robert Griffin III, running back Alfred Morris, tight end Jordan Reed and wide receivers Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson, though, present their defense with the task of stopping a versatile attack.

The Redskin first-team defense has been firing on all cylinders, forcing seven three-and-outs through the first two preseason games. While the Ravens’ rushing attack currently ranks No. 1 in preseason play.

Happy Birthday, Sonny!

Washington Redskins legendary quarterback and Pro Football Hall of Famer Sonny Jurgensen is celebrating his 80th birthday today!

In 11 seasons with the Redskins, Jurgensen threw for 22,585 yards and 179 touchdowns — becoming one of the most beloved players in franchise history in the process.
