A good half by the Washington Redskins was highlighted by a great pass from Kirk Cousins.

The third-year quarterback — who came in after Robert Griffin III had a solid first, and only, series — lead the Redskins on a methodical drive that ended with a 10-yard touchdown connection with Aldrick Robinson.

Speaking of Robinson, he has two receptions for 33 yards –most at halftime.

On the other side of the ball, the defense remained stout throughout the first 30 minutes. Starting with a three-and-out, Jim Haslett’s unit has given up only 87 yards on five drives.

Can the burgundy and gold keep it up in the second half?

The Washington Redskins struck first at FedExField this evening, as the defense did a great job forcing the New England Patriots into a three-and-out on their first drive before Robert Griffin III lead a solid drive featuring a heavy dosage of Alfred Morris. While the drive stalled out at the 21-yard line, Kai Forbath was able to nail a 39-yard field goal attempt to put the Redskins up 3-0.

The defense held strong again, forcing New England into a three-and-out which was highlighted by a Brian Orakpo sack. Following the stout performance, Kirk Cousins led the Redskins on a long touchdown drive where he connected with Aldrick Robinson on a pinpoint pass between coverage for a touchdown.

Anyway, we start the second quarter with the Redskins on defense.
