Redskins React To USA’s Tie In World Cup Play

Up and down went the emotional roller coaster yesterday.

American eyes were on Brazil last night as the US Men’s National Team squared off with a Portuguese squad featuring reigning FIFA Ballon d’Or winner, given to the top male soccer player in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo.

USA conceded an early goal, but fought their way back to tie the game on a beautiful goal by midfielder Jermaine Jones in the 64th-minute. Then in the 81st-minute, striker Clint Dempsey chested in what appeared to be the goal that confirmed a spot in the next round for the Americans.

The euphoria was short-lived as Portugal would score the latest goal in the history of group play.
