In 1999, FedExField hosted several games of the Women’s World Cup, most notably a back-and-forth affair between the US Women’s National Team and Germany where the red, white and blue rebounded from a 2-1 deficit to win, 3-2.
D.C. United posted a pair of friendlies against European powers Chelsea F.C. and Real Madrid. The first was against Chelsea in 2005 and the second against Real Madrid in 2009.
In 2011, Manchester United and Barcelona took to the pitch of FedExField just two months after they battled in the UEFA Champions League Final for European supremacy.
Most recently, the US Men’s National Team and Brazil tangled in July 2012.
