Robert Griffin III Donates Special Memorial Day Cleats

Holidays like Memorial Day have an extra meaning to Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III.

The son of two Army sergeants, Griffin III grew up commonly asking the same question that millions of other American military family members have asked over the past two-plus centuries:

Will my loved ones come home safe to me?

Fortunately, both Jackie and Robert Griffin Jr. did, in fact, come home safe every time, giving their son the inspiration and support to develop into a star athlete at an early age.

So now, the 2012 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year is taking every opportunity he can to both show his appreciation to this country’s military members, as well as give back to the communities that helped shape him into the person he is today.

A Redskins-Themed Memorial Day Tribute From The Fans

Posted by Andrew Walker on May 26, 2014 – 9:40 am

A very happy Memorial Day to those out in Redskins Nation.

Memorial Day is a day to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country, and that’s exactly what we plan on doing.

Here’s a video produced by a huge Redskins fan, Bridget Dowd, who says the montage depicts the Redskins “showing their love and support for those who who keep this country safe. Thank you to those who have served and the men, women and families of those who are currently serving. Take a moment to remember and honor their sacrifices and enjoy the freedoms that they fought for!”

Thank you, Bridget, for this awesome video — and thank you, especially, to those who have given their lives to protect our freedoms.

By the way, you can follow Bridget’s blog “Girly Girl’s Guide to Football” by clicking here.

Adriana Tells Of First Day Shooting For 2014 Calendar

Posted by Redskins.com on May 25, 2014 – 10:42 am

Adriana

¡Buenos Dias!
Today began our first official day of shooting and we were definitely off to an early start! I had the pleasure of being one of eight veterans chosen for a special group photo. This meant being in hair and makeup at 245am. Our “glam squad” worked their magic so we would be ready in time to catch the sunrise. Soon we were all squeezing into a golf cart and cruising our way down to the beach in our special  Redskins bikinis.

With offensive tackle Morgan Moses joining the team as a third-round draft pick this year, the Redskins will never have to worry about him protecting the quarterback.

Be sure to check out this article from Yahoo! Sports’ Eric Adelson about the Redskins enlisting a hero’s help by bringing the “big man on board,” who has a history of saving signal callers on and off the field:

Alfred Morris Surprised By News Of McConaughey’s Appearance

Posted by Andrew Walker on May 21, 2014 – 5:14 pm

Alfred Morris loves to watch movies.

He especially loves to go to the theater, and then go out and add to his large DVD collection.

So it should come as no surprise that Morris is well aware of the work of actor Matthew McConaughey.

Anyway, Morris on June 4 will be joining the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation in its first-ever “Movies With Morris” event, in which Morris and several of his teammates (currently scheduled to attend are Chris Baker, Darrel Young, Nick Sundberg, Ryan Kerrigan and Robert Griffin III) will treat attendees with a movie of their choice, and a bunch of other goodies.

Morris went on the set of Redskins Nation today to promote the event, but was given a bit of breaking news by host Larry Michael:

It was announced yesterday, that the city of Minneapolis will host Super Bowl LII in 2018. The Big Game will be held in the Minnesota Vikings’ new stadium which is scheduled to open its doors in 2016.

This will be the second time a Super Bowl will be held in Minneapolis.

The first? Super Bowl XXVI between the Buffalo Bills and the Washington Redskins.

As nearly every fan of the game knows, the matchup featured two of the top offenses and what was supposed to be an electrifying back-and-fourth game.

Instead, the Redskins showed their brute and pounded the Bills. Going up 24-0 early in the third quarter, the burgundy and gold cruised to a 37-24 victory.

Recapping the game:
