Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III doesn’t want to miss out on the biggest part of the year at FedExField.
It was announced earlier this afternoon, that the third-year quarterback will be in attendance for Saturday’s Draft Day Party.
Before you print out your free party pass or rush home, if you already did, to make sure it’s still good to go, take a look back at his cameo at last year’s party:
From April 27th, 2013
On Saturday, quarterback Robert Griffin III attended the Redskins Draft Day Party in front of a record number 25,000 fans.
As a video package of No. 10’s best highlights from his first season played on the HD video boards, Griffin III attempted to enter FedExField incognito, but the Redskins faithful had waited all day for the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year to show up and weren’t going to miss his arrival.
As Griffin III took the stage ‘R-G-3’ chants filled the air over FedExField.
“You wouldn’t expect anything less from the best fans in the NFL,” Griffin III said with a giant smile. “I’m feeling good, rehab’s going great, we’re having a great draft right now, and I’m all in for Week 1, just like you guys are.”
While it was difficult for Griffin III to pinpoint his favorite moment from the 2012 season, beating the Dallas Cowboys rates highly on his accomplishments for the year.
“You’ve got to start with the last game against the Cowboys,” Griffin III said when asked of a favorite moment. “Alfred Morris runs for 200 yards, does a great job. The next game is probably Thanksgiving when we spanked the Cowboys.
“We had a lot of good moments, I mean they showed [on the video boards] the [76-yard] touchdown run, I think that was a classic, but last year was a lot of fun and we’re looking to go even farther this year.”
After winning the NFC East, the Redskins entered the playoffs riding a wave of momentum thanks to a lengthy win streak to end the season. However, in their first round playoff matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, Griffin III suffered tears to his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and lateral collateral ligament (LCL).
He gave those in attendance a positive report of how his progress is coming along after surgery during the offseason.
“I’m good. You guys saw me jumping; I can run a little bit [too]. So I’ll be good, no worries,” Griffin III said with a smile on his face. “I’ll take it slow, but at the same time I’ll be ready to go.”
As the crowd was able to fully soak in the fact that the quarterback was one again back at FedExField, all the memories from his first year resurfaced as the fans once again voiced their approval of the second overall pick from the 2012 NFL Draft with a second RG3 chant.
FedExField, however, wasn’t the only stadium where his name was caroled.
“That sounds familiar,” Griffin III said as he made reference to Thanksgiving Day at Dallas when RG3 chants were heard in rival territory. “We made Cowboys Stadium our home and that’s what we want to continue to do.”
Before leaving the party, Griffin III had one final message for all Redskins fans after his first season.
“You all are the best, that’s for sure. You know what I learned is, I said it during the season, when it’s time for us to show up and show out, you guys show up and show out for us.
“You can’t leave here without saying HTTR: Hail to the Redskins, baby.”
So what all do you have to look forward to at THIS year’s Draft Day Party?
You’ll get exclusive access to the locker room where you can act like Alfred Morris before he bulldozes over opponents, show off that rocket scientists call an arm, take a picture with three beautiful Lombardi’s and so much more.
Can’t wait to see you there!
