There was a cool moment for two Redskins players this morning, but perhaps the moment was even cooler for the guy they were excited to meet.
Redskins outside linebacker Brian Orakpo and quarterback Colt McCoy were hitting the links this morning for a good cause at the Mack, Jack & McConaughey (MJ&M) Celebrity Golf Tournament at Barton Creek Country Club in Austin, Texas.
And who did these two University of Texas Longhorns run into at the golf course? None other than fellow Texas alum, and huge Redskins fan, Matthew McConaughey.
Orakpo tweeted a photo of the moment. Of course those involved are throwing up their “Hook ‘Em Horns” hand signs:
I’m sure these guys have crossed paths before, as both Orakpo and McCoy were studs at Texas and McConaughey likes to get out to the Longhorns’ games. But seeing these guys share a bond now with the Redskins is pretty cool nonetheless.
Also cool? The cause these guys are backing. The Mack, Jack & McConaughey “is the joint fundraising effort of actor Matthew McConaughey, recording artist Jack Ingram, and Texas coaching legend Mack Brown. MJ&M benefits a handful of non-profit organizations that all reflect MJ&M’s goal to empower kids.”
The total event — which the Redskins are also supporting — included a Sheryl Crow concert and gala on Thursday, the golf tournament and fashion show today and ends with a mega concert tonight.
Here’s some shots from the Gala, and from the golf tournament (courtesy the Mack, Jack & McConaughey organization):
On another note, I’m sure Orakpo and McCoy are also trying to get in as many swings as they can for Orakpo’s annual Golf Classic for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, which is being held Monday.
