DeSean Jackson has moved forward, but in the moment he wanted a reason.
As the wide receiver explained on the Arsenio Hall Show – where he caught a lot of things – he was surprised to hear Chip Kelly telling him the Philadelphia Eagles were cutting him following his best professional season.
“It was almost unreal honestly,” Jackson said.
“My agent actually called me because I missed the call from the head coach, so I’m sitting there like, ‘What’s the reason behind it? Like what’s going on? Talk to me. Tell me something.’
“I said basically, ‘What’s the reason behind this?’ Because I’m like, ‘Huh? Alright.’ Basically he told me like, ‘I think it’s best for the team, and I think it’s best for yourself. We’re going to let you negotiate with 31 other teams.'”
Jackson was at peace with the move. He said he landed in a “better place.”
Still, Hall asked him to get real.
“Now look, I’m in this business, and I know our publicists load us with politically correct answers for questions,” Hall said. “But you have to be waiting for those two times to wear his (butt) out. Just personally, you want to get in Chip Kelly’s head.”
“Yeah, I mean, for sure,” Jackson said grinning. “There’s gonna be something special about them two games. For sure. I’ve got to definitely go up on that. For sure.”
