Trust me. Ryan Kerrigan is not that guy.
He’s not the guy who wears his high school letter jacket years after the fact, fixated on the glory years at Muncie (Ind.) Central High School and how he could have gone pro. Kerrigan did go pro, and this is the first time I’ve seen him in that jacket.
However, it’s nice to see it still fits for a noble cause. Kerrigan donned his 2007 purple-and-cream jacket to promote unity in his hometown.
As reported by The Star Press, Muncie Central is merging with Southside High School. Kerrigan partnered with Southside graduate, fellow Purdue Boilermaker and former New England Patriots offensive tackle Brandon Gorin to film a spot embracing the theme of “One Muncie.”
“With the schools merging, I thought it was a good idea, and it was fun to shoot,” Kerrigan said.
“I’m sure it is tough for a lot of people to realize that there will be no more Central South rivalry, but I think in every sense of the word it will really make us one.”
What a mensch.
In the following “Behind the Scenes” video, you can see Kerrigan has 11 patches on the back of that jacket. He was good at things in high school.
