The Generosity Of Mike McGlynn

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on March 28, 2014 – 3:40 pm

Mike Mcglynn

Mike McGlynn must love Christmas.

I have two pieces of evidence to support this claim about the latest addition to the Redskins’ offensive line.

For one, he once acquired the leg lamp from “A Christmas Story” to gamely exasperate delight his wife.

And the 6-foot-4, 325-pound interior lineman is a giver. When he was with the Colts in 2012, McGlynn salvaged Christmas for Matthew and Lori Diehl of Shelbyville, Ind.

McGlynn paid for about $500 worth of presents, or the approximate value all the gifts lost when a thief ransacked a van full from Christmas shopping. The family was already struggling to make ends meet. Matthew Diehl was receiving chemotherapy for Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

“For us to go ahead and give back to that family was a true blessing,” McGlynn told WISH-TV. “I’m glad we were able to do it.”
