Robert Griffin III made a wardrobe decision he would typically avoid, but he had a good reason.
Like the rest of the honorees at the 35th Annual Ed Block Courage Awards in Baltimore, the quarterback wore a bow tie at the behest of Dhani Jones. He said Monday night was his first time to sport that variety of neckwear.
Jones, who spent 11 years as an NFL linebacker, started BowTie Cause to support his friend Kunta Littlejohn when he was diagnosed with with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. The foundation rolled out a special number to support the Ed Block Courage Award Foundation.
“There’s a lot of guys that you wouldn’t normally think would wear a bow tie,” Jones said. “But because it’s associated with a cause, they’ll wear it proudly.”
