Say a word enough times and it loses all meaning. Repeat a word enough and it turns from a tool of expression into a bare sound. Who made up the word “platypus” anyway? That sounds silly.
Well – thanks to Robert Griffin III – that’s how I feel about lower extremities now.
The Redskins quarterback tweeted a sock selfie and a request on Wednesday. He asked more than a million followers to show him their sock swag. Because I primarily own plain socks, I was curious to see what would come in.
Now I’ve been overexposed to the human ankle, which I know is built for a purpose but continues to look like a funny canvas for cotton and lycra art.

Pierre Garçon is visiting U.S. troops stationed in the Middle East for a weeklong morale-building tour coordinated by the NFL and USO.
Of course part of his time with service members included working on his hands.
“Being a part of this USO tour has been a very memorable experience for me, seeing everything the men and women in uniform do for us back home,” Garçon said,
“Talking with the troops and seeing the effects we had on them will live with me forever. I’m so happy I came on this trip and now I I’ve met some friends that I will remember forever. Thank you to the troops for all that you do.”
We’ll have a gallery of Pierre posing with military personnel and their armored vehicles up on Redskins.com, but until then here are a few more pictures military service members shared on Twitter. Read more »
