I was in the studio last week watching Jay Gruden film a spot with Larry Michael to promote the Redskins Read Book Challenge Powered by NRG!
After the coach enjoyed Michael’s rendition of “If You Give A Mouse A Cookie,” I warmed up beside the artificial fire and asked Gruden what book captured his imagination during the height of his kickball prime at Childs Elementary School.
After thinking for a beat, the patient coach chose “The Mouse and The Motorcycle” by Beverly Cleary. Published in 1965, Cleary’s tale introduced Ralph S. Mouse, a whiskered protagonist who learns to pilot a toy motorcycle.
Kids, keep reading. One day you might become a famous football coach who has to name his favorite kids book.
