(Sammy Baugh in 1938, AP)

On this Opening Day we remember Sammy Baugh, who was an innovator of the modern passing offense and a throwback two-way player but – fortunately for the Washington Redskins – merely a middling infielder for the St. Louis Cardinals organization.

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on March 31, 2014 – 11:19 am

Pierre Garçon could not receive the Sammy Baugh trophy in person.

TMNT Trailers And The Redskins

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on March 28, 2014 – 4:30 pm

secret

The internet loves ’90s offspring.

A glut of blogs have cashed in with kitschy retrospectives on the toys, snacks and school supplies from the golden age of Saturday morning cartoon programming.

Michael Bay gets it. The director, producer and inspiration for “Team America: World Police” already turned the Transformers from benevolent toons into GGI renditions of undulating Dolby sounds. Now he’s coming for your turtles.

RakAttack

Brian Orakpo entered the studio at Redskins Park positively dripping with swag. Don’t ask me my why style has liquid properties. It just does.

Fresh off signing a one-year franchise tender that would guarantee his position in Washington’s defense for 2014, Orakpo sat down with Tarik El-Bashir and Chris Wilson to tape This Week @ The Park on Thursday. He insisted he needed a microphone to amplify the “Barry White” voice he’s had since the third grade.

The linebacker’s cap read, “Don’t Trip.” His gold watch matched the chains around his neck and the zipper on his varsity jacket.

Orakpo said his streetwear was indicative of an attitude that starts in the linebacker corps.

Texas Eatery Serves Redskins Dessert

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on March 27, 2014 – 8:00 am

Jason Hatcher has been getting a lot of flak and support on Twitter since he turned coats on the Cowboys. The prize acquisition of the offseason has accepted well  wishes and laughed off the haters.

On Wednesday night, he enjoyed a fine creole dinner before enjoying another reward for picking Washington: a Redskins-themed, fried bread pudding courtesy of a dining establishment in Frisco, Texas.
