It’s been a long road for defensive lineman Chris Baker. Now “Swaggy” is reaping the rewards.
After getting kicked out of school at Penn State, maturing at Hampton and being waived by the Denver Broncos and the Miami Dolphins, Baker found a home in Washington. In 2013, his second year with the Redskins, the 26-year old snatched a starting job and his first career sack.
The Redskins showed a commitment to developing and retaining talent by announcing Thursday the team has re-signed Baker before he could test the market as a free agent.
“I think this year I’ve taken practice a lot more seriously and the film room a lot more seriously, and it’s starting to show on the field,” Baker said during the season.
On Thursday morning, hours before the Redskins would re-sign Baker, he posted this collage to his Instagram account.
A voracious appetite for quarterbacks made Baker stand out. Watch his first career sack at the 1:08 mark below.
Check out his play that sent Eli Manning to the sidelines in the regular season finale. The two have since made up.
In the early stages of the 2014 offseason, Swaggy’s been going hard to stay in peak form.
A look at Baker’s baby book reveals he was always meant to don the burgundy and gold.
Fast forward to here.
