Jay Gruden has a fire in his belly, but it’s not necessarily a raging bonfire befitting of a beachside bacchanalia. It can be a steady, slow-burning flame like a pilot light.
In Part Four of an exclusive interview with Redskins.com at the NFL Scouting Combine, Gruden would not say he wished the season started today.
“Not yet,” Gruden told Larry Michael. “We need time. We need a little time. Let’s slow down a little bit, take a deep breath. Let’s get our team together, get these guys working out together. Let’s build some camaraderie and move forward.”
Watch the video above to hear Gruden’s breakdown of all the phases necessary to build a football team and why it’s important to study last season’s missteps.
