‘Jerry Smith: A Football Life’ To Air On NFL Network

NFL Network will delve into the personal life and career of All-Pro tight end Jerry Smith, one of the 80 greatest Redskins, at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday night in the latest installment of the network’s Emmy-nominated documentary series, “A Football Life

Smith retired as the NFL’s all-time leader in touchdown receptions by a tight end. He still ranks sixth in franchise history in receptions (421), seventh in receiving yards (5,496) and third in touchdowns (60).

The documentary covers Smith’s love of football and his fear of losing his career. Smith was a gay athlete who kept his lifestyle a secret from many of his teammates.

“This guy was a tremendous football player. Tough as nails, great hands – just so dependable,” Bobby Mitchell said in the film. Read more »

The John Wall Dance And More NBA Celebrations For Jay Gruden

Over the weekend Jay Gruden enjoyed a warm reception at the Verizon Center, drawing cheers from fans and taking some time to scout John Wall’s NFL potential.

Turns out Gruden likes Wall’s moves off the court, too.  The Washington Wizards put Gruden on the big screen, and the coach excelled under pressure. If there’s a better way to accept adoration than the John Wall dance, you’ll have to let me know.

Chris Baker And Eli Manning Made Up

The Redskins defensive end and the Giants quarterback found common ground below the Rocky Mountains.

Chris Baker has been in Denver rooting on his childhood pal, Broncos defensive tackle Terrance Knighton. Eli Manning was of course at Sunday’s AFC Championship to support his older brother, Denver quarterback Peyton Manning.

Baker rolled up on Eli Manning’s ankle in December, causing an injury that would eventually knock him out of the regular season finale in New York. On Instagram all appeared to be well between the two professionals over the weekend.
