Posted by Gabe Hiatt on January 16, 2014 – 4:58 pm

For 11 years Kirk Olivadotti served the Redskins in six different roles.

He paid his dues working quality control, taught defensive backs, special teams, defensive line and linebackers and acted as a defensive assistant.

The Redskins announced him as the new inside linebackers coach under Jay Gruden’s staff on Wednesday. Olivadotti is one of 11 assistant coaches to devote at least 10 years to the Redskins.

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on January 16, 2014 – 4:04 pm

Chick

I have no doubts CSN Washington anchor Chick Hernandez rises in the morning and likes what he sees in the mirror.

Chick is confident man in a profession of confident men. If he didn’t like what he saw, he probably wouldn’t put it on camera. But maybe some mornings he looks at his closely cropped hair and remembers what was with a pang of nostalgia.

There was a time, a golden age for anchormen, when Chick’s head sprouted hair so abundant it would make Pam Grier weep.  Read more »

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on January 16, 2014 – 2:06 pm

You probably don’t care where I procure chicken, but I didn’t lead the NFL in receptions while setting a new single-season Redskins record.

Kerrigan

Ryan Kerrigan was just about to get his knee scoped when the surgeon broke the news.

“I was getting ready to go into surgery, and I saw the doctor that was about to perform on me said, “Uh oh, you guys hired a new head coach today,'” Kerrigan told Larry Michael on Redskins Nation.

Scott Campbell

Like players and coaches, NFL scouts have their own season that ebbs and flows according tot he calendar.

While January is a down time for some football personnel eliminated from the playoffs, talent evaluators must prepare for the wave of final scouting opportunities before the draft.

Redskins Director of Player Personnel Scott Campbell will be taking five scouts with him to St. Petersburg, Fla., this weekend to get a live look at prospects in the 89th annual East-West Shrine Game. On average, more than 275 East-West Shrine Game alumni are on NFL rosters each year. Read more »

Doug Williams chose to view  his ouster as a sign.

No longer the head coach at Grambling, the Super Bowl XXII MVP had more time on his hands to spend with the Redskins and pursue front office jobs in the NFL.

In a conversation with Rick “Doc” Walker and Brian Mitchell during “Inside the Locker Room” on ESPN 980, Williams said he had the opportunity to visit the Redskins locker room before the Cowboys game, when he chatted with Robert Griffin III and came away impressed.
