Robert Griffin III Ready To Work With Jay Gruden In Washington

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on January 9, 2014 – 6:51 pm

In his introductory  press conference, new Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said he hasn’t talked to Robert Griffin III or studied the quarterback on tape, but he likes what he’s seen on highlights.

Gruden said he’s looking forward to his first discussion with the team’s Ed Block Courage Award winner.

“Robert’s a great quarterback and it’s very exciting,” Gruden said. “Anytime you want to move forward with a franchise that’s a very important position, as we well know. He’s a great player and I look forward to the chance of coaching him.”

Griffin III reciprocated the message from across the Pacific Ocean. It was 1 p.m. in Hawaii.

New to the Washington media scene, Gruden was surprised when ESPN’s Lindsay Czarniak asked him three RG3 questions in a row.

Welcome to D.C. Jay!
