Darrel Young’s Criteria For New Coach

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on January 6, 2014 – 1:40 pm

Fullback Darrel Young‘s ideal head coach would have to have one trait.

In an interview with CSN Washington, Young said he wants a coach that wants him.

“I just want… a guy that uses a fullback,” Young said.

“Coach (Mike) Shanahan and Kyle (Shanahan) found ways to put me in the offense. They found ways to get me involved in the running game. I did some good things versus San Diego, caught a pass versus Philly for a long touchdown completion. (They) just did some things and put myself in some scenarios, from a coaching standpoint, that made me feel good. I just want a coach that comes in and believes in me, believes in what we’re trying to do, believes in the players that he has. Of course with new coaches comes new change. We all understand that.”

Young also talked about difficulties with the offense in 2013, finding a role he never imagined and his reaction to the team relieving Shanahan of coaching duties.

Villanova graduate myself so all about D. Young being involved….

    Message to Management

I’m a lifelong Skins fan who has been living in Philly for the last 21 years….I’ve raised seven children here who are also diehard Skins fans….It has not been easy on us in Eagles country. I would like the Redskins to change course and pick a younger coach with a lot of energy and enthusiasm and then stick with him for at least six or seven years. The constant coach hopping has been a disaster….it’s now water under the Bridge but Shanahan inherited a mess and then was never able to operate under a normal cap situation due to bad contracts he inherited and the 36 million dollar cap hit levied by that tyrant Goodell because we as an organization did not want to collude against the players like a lot of other teams did….The new coach should be in a much better situation with regards to the cap and also good core players on both offense and defense. Please…Dan….leave the next guy alone and give him time to get us a ring….think about how the Squire operated and lets have another parade. Bruce…the game is won at the line of scrimmage….Draft linemen….Draft linemen…..protect RGIII….give him a few more weapons…..its a passing league….bolster the secondary with youth size and speed…..Draft linemen…..Draft linemen…..Sign free agents who are on the rise rather that “Cerrato style” on the decline….don’t make splashes in free agency build the team with brick, cement and rebarb…..Be patient…be smart…Be Champions…..Hail

After reading this man’s credentials he certainly seems as an excellent candidate for Head coach of the Washington Redskins.

I have been a Redskins fan for over 10 years. I believe the Redskins need a coach who is not only dedicated to the game, but to be dedicated to the players. The Redskins have had good players who never really got a chance to play in games, for whatever Shanny’t reason. I read about one of the people the Redskins was thinking about interviewing and James Franklin seems like an excellent fit for the Skins.
