Eight days ago, Perry Fewell paced the field at MetLife Stadium and called defensive plays for a Giants unit that held the Redskins to six points and zero touchdowns in the 2013 season finale.
On Monday, he interviewed to become the head coach of the team he helped stop.
In the late December game in New York, Fewell’s defense forced four Redskins turnovers. In eight years as an NFL defensive coordinator, Fewell’s defenses have ranked in the top 5 in takeaways four times and in the top 10 for each of the past five years.
Fewell has 16 years of NFL experience but lacks a full season of head coaching under his belt.
After the Bills relieved Dick Jauron of head coaching duties in 2009, Fewell finished out the season as the interim head coach. Buffalo won three games under both head coaches that year, but Fewell had two less contests than Jauron in the lead role.
Players in Buffalo felt the impact of the change as soon as the first team meeting. Read more »

All week long, the Washington Redskins will be thanking fans for the tremendous support we received on the road. Throughout the 2013 season, Washington supporters from all over the country attended Redskins Rallies, where they had the chance to meet Bruce Allen and members of the Redskins Radio Network. Fans entered raffles to win memorabilia, game tickets and field passes.
Our first Redskins Rally of the year was at the Red Jack Saloon in San Francisco, Calif., where we hosted fans before Washington defeated Oakland, 24-14.

Fullback Darrel Young‘s ideal head coach would have to have one trait.
In an interview with CSN Washington, Young said he wants a coach that wants him.
“I just want… a guy that uses a fullback,” Young said.
“Coach (Mike) Shanahan and Kyle (Shanahan) found ways to put me in the offense. They found ways to get me involved in the running game. I did some good things versus San Diego, caught a pass versus Philly for a long touchdown completion. (They) just did some things and put myself in some scenarios, from a coaching standpoint, that made me feel good. I just want a coach that comes in and believes in me, believes in what we’re trying to do, believes in the players that he has. Of course with new coaches comes new change. We all understand that.”
Young also talked about difficulties with the offense in 2013, finding a role he never imagined and his reaction to the team relieving Shanahan of coaching duties.
