In 2014 roses are Sparty Green.
Last night, the Michigan State Spartans defeated the Stanford Cardinals in a thrilling game for the 100th edition of “The Granddaddy Of Them All”.
While he wasn’t playing in the game, former MSU star/current Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins was in attendance and had glowing remarks of his alma mater’s performance.
Per NFL.com’s Dan Greenspan, Cousins was about 10 feet from the action that included Michigan State thwarting Stanford’s fourth down run up the gut with the game on the line.
“Just so excited to have a front-row seat to watch it happen tonight. We earned the right to be here. I say ‘we’ — I don’t know how much I did.”
Well you did rile up nearly 27,000 Spartan fans on Tuesday.
“Tomorrow, when those men walk out on that field and they see that 75% of the Rose Bowl is green and white–you don’t even understand the emotion that’s gonna well up inside of them and the pride they’re gonna play with when they look around that stadium.”
While no picture of Cousins decked out in Sparty gear has been retrieved yet, I’m sure he looked probably a little something like this at the final whistle:
As a man who went to a college with no football program, I now wish I could have—just so I could hear one of Kirk’s accolade-laced speeches.
