While I was wasting three hours visiting four grocery stores on an unfruitful wild legume chase for black eyed-peas Wednesday, Joe Theismann was talking to ESPN’s Mike & Mike about the Redskins.

Theismann detailed the primary area of development he’d like to see from Robert Griffin III and listed his top two head coach prospects for Washington, one of which is no longer available.

Before detailing how Griffin III can improve, Theismann asserted the Baylor product’s importance to the franchise and came out in favor of letting the quarterback sit out of last three games of 2013. Read more »

In 2014 roses are Sparty Green.

Last night, the Michigan State Spartans defeated the Stanford Cardinals in a thrilling game for the 100th edition of “The Granddaddy Of Them All”.

While he wasn’t playing in the game, former MSU star/current Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins was in attendance and had glowing remarks of his alma mater’s performance.

Kerrigan: 3-4 vs. 4-3, Impressing Coaches

At Purdue University, Ryan Kerrigan was a monster in the trenches.

In his last two seasons he recorded a combined 91 tackles, an NCAA-high 44.5 tackles for loss and 25.5 sacks.

However, after being selected with the 16th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, Kerrigan shifted over to the stance up position of linebacker.

With three full seasons under his belt, including 24.5 sacks and Pro Bowl appearance, it’s safe to say he’s had no problems with the move.

Would transitioning back to defensive end hinder his growth as an NFL player if the franchise brings in a coach that prefers a 3-4 scheme though?

Kerrigan answered that question along with offseason plans and what he and his teammates need to do to impress a new coaching staff on ESPN 980’s “Inside the Locker Room”.

Running back Alfred Morris, linebacker Brian Orakpo and cornerback DeAngelo Hall each earned a spot on ESPN’s list of the best players in the NFC East.

After a 3-13 regular season, the Redskins placed the least players of the four teams composing the divisional all-start squad.

ESPN did not award a spot to the NFL’s leading receiver or Washington’s lone Pro Bowler.

Here’s a look at the full team. Read more »

London Fletcher Endorses Lovie Smith

The field of potential candidates to be the next head coach of the Washington Redskins thinned on New Year’s day.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were finalizing a deal with Lovie Smith, the former Chicago Bears head coach who directed the Bucs’ linebackers from 1996 to 2000.

London Fletcher liked the move.

More On D-Hall Touchdowns, Morris’ ’13

Posted by Stephen Czarda on January 2, 2014 – 10:10 am

Earlier this week I examined the impressive run by Washington Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon this season.

Notching a league-high 113 receptions, Garcon was by far the burgundy and gold’s top target. Next closest in terms of receptions was rookie tight end Jordan Reed with 45–and he didn’t make any appearances in the month of December.

But Garcon isn’t the only Redskin to appear at the top of league rankings.

Scooping up a loose pigskin that was jarred free from Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick’s possession, cornerback DeAngelo Hall scored his first of three defensive touchdowns in the season opener.

While three isn’t the loneliest number one is. And that’s where Hall stood in the D touchdown rankings in 2013.

More from the last stat ranking update of the 2013 season:
