Sonny Jurgensen visits Redskins Park on Fridays and receives guests in his honorary office, a black leather couch in the lobby. There’s even a nameplate. I like to stop by and ask Sonny a few quick questions about quarterbacks and matchups. This week’s brief chat covered his impressions of Kirk Cousins’ start in Atlanta, his thoughts on Tony Romo and his recollection of playing the Cowboys.

Gabe Hiatt: What sticks out to you from your memories of playing the Dallas Cowboys?

Sonny Jurgensen: They were a very good football team when they had Tom Landry as their coach. It was always a challenge to us, and we enjoyed the challenge. We could score 30 points and lose, 31-30. They were good games, competitive games. We won our share.

It’s do or die time this week for you fantasy football devotees.

With bragging rights hanging in the balance and an inspired football team looped through the London Fletcher final home game hoopla, the Washington Redskins could very well be the deciding factor in your championship equation.

Cowboys Stories: Defense & Romo In Dec.

The Dallas Cowboys took round one with a 31-16 victory enhanced by special teams woes both on the sidelines and on the field.

Each quarter the Cowboys found the end zone. The Washington Redskins, however, crossed the goal line only once off the muscle bound legs of neophyte Alfred Morris.

Are the Washington Redskins in better position to win this time around?

Swag’s been dripping from the locker room walls with the opportunity to put Dallas, and its historical bad defense, on the mat and out of playoff contention for good. And to send Tony Stark’s idol London Fletcher out with a beautiful rendition of ‘Hail to the Redskins’ raining down from a soldout crowd as the Cowboys walk into the locker room, stunned that they lost to three straight backup quarterbacks in December.

Dallas reporters have been frantic all week in fear that the 3-11 Washington Redskins will leave them little more than the usual ‘Another Disappointing December’ headlines.

Here’s what they’ve been saying:

J.D. Walton is an avid outdoorsman, a capable television host and a man who’s had some of the planet’s most famous hands under his bottom.

The fourth-year center from Baylor and newest member of Washington’s offensive line has delivered snaps to Heisman trophy winners Robert Griffin III and Tim Tebow in addition to 12-time Pro Bowl selection Peyton Manning.

Back in 2009, Walton and fellow BU lineman Danny Watkins interviewed a bevy of Bears on camera, including a young RG3 (around the 3:00 mark). Read more »

Week 16 Infographic: Cowboys Redskins

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on December 20, 2013 – 7:00 am

Dal-Infographic-cover

Sunday’s rivalry game figures to be a battle between 88 and 88.

Pierre Garçon has more catches and more receiving yards in his quest to best Art Monk, but Bryant has him beat when it comes to touchdowns. Both receivers are solid bets for the Pro Bowl.

Use the infographic below to see how the receivers stack up in yards per game and how the Redskins compare to the Cowboys. Then call your friends in the Lone Star State and tell them, “We want Dallas!”
