Yesterday in Cleveland, Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts III had a fairy tale game.
As Jaguars.com senior writer John Oehser detailed, Shorts III returned to his home town to score a go-ahead touchdown with less than a minute remaining against the Browns.
Shorts’ former teammate at the University of Mount Union took notice.
The two NFL wideouts suited up for the same Purple Raiders team in 2007, Garçon’s last year at Mount Union and Shorts’ first.
In that season, Garçon played in all 14 games, caught 67 passes for 955 yards and scored 14 touchdowns. He averaged 14.3 yards per catch.
As a freshman, Shorts III played in every game, splitting time at quarterback and wide receiver. He completed 16-of-24 passes for 209 yards, caught 12 passes for 289 yards and three touchdowns and also had 12 rushes for 108 yards and two touchdowns.
In his third year as a pro, Shorts has 64 catches for 764 yards and two touchdowns.
Garçon has already established personal bests in receptions (84) and receiving yards (980).
