To claim any sort of silver lining from last night’s 27-6 loss to San Francisco would be foolhardy. However, Pierre Garçon’s output in an ugly game for the Redskins added to a positive comprehensive storyline in 2013.
In his second season with Washington, his first unimpeded by injury, Garçon is
enjoying having the best statistical season of his six-year career. Per this week’s stats pack:
-Wide receiver Pierre Garçon registered eight receptions for 48 yards. Garçon now has 75 receptions this season, surpassing his previous career high of 70 with the Indianapolis Colts in 2011.
-Garçon’s 75 receptions currently rank first in the NFC and second in the NFL (80, Pittsburgh’s Antonio Brown).
With five games remaining, Garçon is 29 yards receiving away from matching the most single-season receiving yards of his career. He piled up 947 yards with the Colts in 2011. The receiver has three touchdown grabs thus far. He scored six in both 2010 and 2011.
In Week 9 against the Chargers, Garçon set a new personal mark for yards in a single game.
Win or lose, the receiver plays with a fire in his belly.
