Five games left–that’s what the Washington Redskins have remaining on this so far disappointing regular season campaign.

While the offense’s woes were being portrayed on televisions across this great nation, the burgundy and gold entered halftime only down by four and appeared to have the momentum edge heading inside the depths of FedExField for a quick breather and intermission pep talk courtesy head coach Mike Shanahan.

Boom! The defense’s gang tackle of Vernon Davis on the half’s third play resulted in the first forced turnover of the evening and the offense finally–after starting so many drives inside their own five this season–had fantastic starting field position.

What did they get out of it? Turnover on downs.

It’s been that type of season for the burgundy and gold.

Only hours removed from the three touchdown defeat, Shanahan really hit the turnover bug hard and gave an important injury update on the defensive line that has a huge impact on the immediate future.

ESPN, being the gargantuan, whirring media machine that it is, covered its Monday Night Football broadcast with a segment on nationally syndicated radio show Mike & Mike.

Greenberg marveled at Griffin III’s rookie accomplishments, then wondered aloud if the second-year quarterback could get back to the explosive athleticism that defined his first year. Read more »

Last week, the defensive lineman gave his voice yet another platform, introducing himself to the world of Instagram.

To claim any sort of silver lining from last night’s 27-6 loss to San Francisco would be foolhardy. However, Pierre Garçon’s output in an ugly game for the Redskins added to a positive comprehensive storyline in 2013.

In his second season with Washington, his first unimpeded by injury, Garçon is enjoying having the best statistical season of his six-year career. Read more »

Griffin III, Shanahan Postgame Pressers

Adversity– A state of hardship or affliction; misfortune.

No one expected the offense to struggle so much.

A touchdownless game under an offense featuring Robert Griffin III, Alfred Morris and Pierre Garcon could only be achieved in Madden by a fan playing as a division foe on rookie setting.

3-8 sounded impossible, yet that is where we stand.

The adversity continues to grow during a trying season.

Players preach their understanding of the fact that what makes this season so frustrating is there is no one true underlying, pinpointable culprit in the woes.

Each unit is to blame. But it’s always something different each week.

Anyway, head coach Mike Shanahan and quarterback Robert Griffin III addressed the media following last night’s loss and continually touched on the defined word above—adversity.
