For the past three days, three members of the tight end group took added reps at practice.
Rookie Jordan Reed, who’s tied for the team lead with three touchdown catches and ranks second on the club in receptions (45) and yards receiving (499) , has been sitting out with a concussion.
If Reed is unable to play on Monday Night, a spot could open up for Fred Davis, who has been listed as inactive five games in a row. Both Mike and Kyle Shanahan have been complimentary of the tight end this week.
“All I need is a little bit of opportunity,” Davis told CSN Washington. “That’s all, just a little bit.”
In each season from 2009-2012, Davis started at least seven games, caught at least 21 passes and scored at least three touchdowns.
Reed’s recovery and Mike Shanahan’s roster decisions will determine Davis’ role on Monday Night, but at this point in the week, it looks like he could launch his comeback against the 49ers.
Davis’ potential role was just one of the stories swirling around Redskins Park this week. Here’s a look back at some of the other top headlines.
