Coach’s Turn: Mike Shanahan At The Mic

They made it close but in the end history will always show November 17th, 2013 as a Washington Redskins loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

In front of an always rowdy Philly crowd desperate for the first home victory in 414 days, the Redskins got off to a slow start in the passing game, failing to feed off of Alfred Morris’ ability to slice and dice the defense.

Speaking of defense, far too often did the Redskins’ defense let the Eagles run free after feeble tackle attempts resulted in much then they should have.

Sorting through a game that dropped the Redskins to four games below .500, here’s video of head coach Mike Shanahan’s postgame press conference:

Why are you sticking with RG3 when you have better QBs on your bench. If anyone else were playing as poorly and literally responsible for losing so many games as this guy, you would have replaced him long ago! What’s the deal with RG 3? He has proven his inability to do what he did before the injury last year. Get him off the field. Start Kurt and let RG3 come in for a play or two when it’ can keep the other team off balance. RG3 is not a pocket QB and trying to force that so he will last a few years, is killing the whole team. He is a “Michael Vick”; and if he cannot play like that, then he should not be playing at all. He has lost games directly by his bad judgment and poor throwing, and he has lost games by losing the ball too quickly so our Defense has to play too much of the game. Be a real coach not a nice guy. Trade RG3 if there is anyway to get better players for him, because the word will be out that he is done for life, by the time this season is over.

I am so sick of seeing RG 3 commercials when he is playing so poorly. He has more commercials than completions. Trade him now while you may still get someone who can help the team. Start your other QBs and only use RG3 on special occasions. Win a game once in a while just for the hell of it. This is not about watching RG3 practice on prime time. This is about playing good football so your team has a chance to win. RG3 makes the entire team look like crap. Watching him take the field you know it’s going to be more of the same because our coach is stuck on playing him regardless of how bad he plays and how detrimental he is to the entire team ! It would be a wonderful change to have a good team in DC, but RG3 is a showstopper for that wish. This team is a lot better without RG3. Trade him for their sake.

I totally agree with this recommendation. Too bad it’s already too late to affect this season. This situation reminds me of the incredible cost of getting Al Haynesworth, who never lived up to expectations. Are we all about gimmicks to sell tickets, even if they are to the other team’s fans? Yes, the Redskins org makes money even if we lose every game. I feel it’s time for the fans to go elsewhere and to change the name of this team to something appropriate. A name like the “Patsies” would make it clear that this is the team to play when you really need a Win. We are headed for 3 and 13 and still we won’t have the Draft choices we need to fix any of our problems. Is Jon Gruden available to coach next year?? If so, Get him and look for some Free Agents.
