In It To Win It Challenge: Finish Strengthening Your Shoulders

The Washington Redskins and Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc. (HDL) are challenging Redskins fans to heighten their activity levels with the “In it to Win It” Challenge. Sign up here to join the rest of Redskins Nation getting fit and winning prizes including Redskins gear, Nike+ FuelBands and more.

Last week we introduced you to a few ways to stabilize your rotator cuffs. If you want to keep logging activity minutes in the weight room, you’ll need to keep your shoulders strong and flexible.

Here’s Redskins Head Athletic Trainer Larry Hess with more simple exercises to ready you for upper body exercises.

Can’t make it to the gym today? HDL has your back with these indoor activity ideas.

-At work, use the restroom on a different floor or the one furthest away from you to accumulate more steps
-March in place during commercials while watching TV at home
-Put music on while doing chores. You might find you have some extra boogie in your scrub!
-Add a stretching routine before going to bed and also immediately after waking up
-Have some empty gallon jugs? Fill them with water and use them as weights.
-Run up and down your stairs at home.
-Have fun with re-arranging furniture.
