Darrel Young you are the most loved fullback in the National Football League.

After the Bears game, all the hoopla surrounding the Redskins’ ground game was the three-headed attack of Robert Griffin III, Alfred Morris and Roy Helu Jr.

Make that a four-headed attack.

Just minutes after his first touchdown of the season, Young became a goal line bully once again with another touchdown.

Then he hit cleanup for Alfred Morris with this walk off:

The last time the Redskins won at home, an unexpected runner scored three touchdowns to deliver a victory at the wire.

Sunday was the same movie with a different leading man. Fullback Darrel Young produced three red-zone touchdown runs and ensured San Diego’s offense would not get a crack at overtime.

The Redskins compiled a balanced overtime drive to down the Chargers, 30-24 at FedExField.

The Redskins executed a nearly flawless third quarter, stringing together two long drives to dominate time of possession and pressuring Philip Rivers into poor decisions on the Chargers’ lone drive. Pierre Garcon topped 100 yards for the game. Santana Moss exceeded 700 catches for his career.

At the end of the period, Washington was 8 yards away from breaking the tie.

See what happens in the running summary below.

Third Quarter High: Santana Moss running for 18 yards on an option pitch from Griffin III

Third Quarter Low: Antonio Gates catching a 15-yard pass to convert a third down.

Darrel Young

They always forget the fullback.

Just last week on a crucial 4th-and-1 against the Denver Broncos fullback Darrel Young barreled his way to a double-digit gain.

All he needed today was one against an unsuspecting Chargers defense overcommitting on the presence of Alfred Morris.

Check out this GIF of his touchdown scamper over and over again.

So San Diego watched some game tape.

The Redskins allowed two touchdowns on screen passes last week at Denver. The Chargers studied up on their bye week. On Eddie Royal’s 15-yard touchdown pass in the final minute of the half, the wideout caught the ball at the line and had time to chop vegetables and clean his reading glasses before easing into the end zone.

On a positive note, Alfred Morris finally broke one.

E.J. Biggers ain’t got no fear in a pigskin that floats directly into his hands.

Early in the second quarter of a 7-7 game, the first-year Redskin recorded his first interception of the season.

DeAngelo Hall’s been the biggest ball-hawk on the season, but if you’re just going to chuck it up nonchalantly into his direction he’s not going to say no and volleyball swat it down.

Anyway, here’s video of the Redskins’ first takeaway of the game:
