The crowd of Pro Bowlers, Super Bowl champions and Pro Football Hall-of-Famers drew to a hush and watched the man on stage.

From Bobby Mitchell to Larry Brown, Ken Houston to Brig Owens, Sonny Jurgensen to  Doug Williams and Mark Rypien, Charley Taylor to Gary Clark and Ricky Sanders, generations of legends filled the ballroom.

The Redskins hosted a gala at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md., to celebrate Alumni Homecoming weekend on Saturday night.

Owner Dan Snyder wanted to pay homage.

Redskins Vs. Chargers: Experts Pick ‘Em

The first seven games of the season could make a Redskins fan as despondent as a black-and-white, downcast cigarette smoker or a pack of fenced-in dogs in a Mötley Crüe video.

Okay, I know that was super specific, but stay with me here. The Redskins return to FedExField, the site of their last victory.They’re on their way. Home sweet home.

According to the national media, Washington supporters could be happier than a shirtless Tommy Lee tickling the ivories and wearing a cowboy hat. Some experts are giving the Redskins a shot.

Sports Illustrated senior writer Don Banks has Washington beating San Diego and staying alive in the NFC East.

Like many of us here at Redskins park, Sonny Jurgensen has an open-air office without walls.

The former Redskins quarterback and longtime radio commentator doesn’t have a cubicle. He posts up in a couch in the back of the lobby, conversing with whoever comes by.

I met Sonny today and took the opportunity to ask him some quarterback questions.
