Sunday’s homecoming matinee against the San Diego Chargers could feature a whole lotta scoring.  Both teams enter Week 9 averaging 24 points per game.

You know best fantasy owner that it’s been impossible to predict what the offense is going to do this season. At times when everything is clicking the offense looks better than it did last season. And then there’s everything else.

If you were that lucky owner to either draft Alfred Morris or pick up Jordan Reed off the waiver wire then congratulations to you. Morris continues to churn out yards and Reed has been a top free agent acquisition, owned in nearly every league now.

Reed’s eminent rise is even more noteworthy considering his viability as a top fantasy option. Pretty impressive for a rookie who played quarterback at the start of his college career and had to play catch up after missing parts of offseason activities recovery from injury.

Anyway, here’s this week’s fantasy roundup before tonight’s Cincy Bengals-Miami Dolphins matchup:

[CBSSports and ESPN are projected totals while NFL.com is rankings. All projections are based on averages amongst various “experts” in standard scoring leagues]

Quarterback Robert Griffin III

CBSSports: 20.4

ESPN: 16

NFL: 8.80 (ranking average)

Running Back Alfred Morris

CBSSports: 13.2

ESPN: 14

NFL: 9.60 (ranking average)

Running Back Roy Helu Jr.

CBSSports: 3.4

NFL: 32.40 (ranking average)

Wide Receiver Pierre Garcon

CBSSports: 13

ESPN: 13

NFL: 8.40 (ranking average)

Wide Receiver Leonard Hankerson:

CBSSports: 3

NFL: 41.40 (ranking average)

Tight End Jordan Reed:

CBSSports: 8.8

NFL: 4.80 (ranking average)

Kicker Kai Forbath

CBSSports: 8

ESPN: 14

NFL: 16.20 (ranking average)

Defense/Special Teams

CBSSports: 4.6

ESPN: -2

NFL: 19.75 (ranking average)

The defense has and still is getting no love. They didn’t play bad last week especially considering the circumstance where they spent nearly the entire fourth quarter on the field, but until they truly shut someone down they just aren’t going to be a top pick in fantasy leagues.

Same goes for Forbath who hasn’t attempted a kick since the first quarter of the Bears game, one of only six attempts this season.

Just food for thought on Halloween 2013.
