Remember last year’s 38 point outburst against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day?
Yeah—silly question of me to ask. Of course you do!
Propelled by four second quarter touchdowns in only 19 plays (the only time I can remember such an outburst is Super Bowl XXII) the Redskins made AT&T Stadium their own personal practice facility. Thanks Dallas for allowing the fans in to see it go down—and chant ‘R-G-3’.
Anyway, as is the case every week, Redskins.com is asking you how many points YOU think the Redskins will score this weekend.
Before submitting your vote check out these awesome stats on the scoring history vs. the enemy:
–The Redskins have scored 0-10 points 28 times in the rivalry. In 2009, the Cowboys shut down the Redskins, allowing only six points in the first game and shutting them out in the second. Of course 2009 was also the year of autotune—so that basically means it never existed.
–On 30 different occasions, the Redskins have scored somewhere between 11 and 20 points against the big, giant stars. Some of the Redskins biggest wins have come when they’ve scored in this point range. That include the ‘Over the Hill Gang’s’ 1971 victory and 2005’s Monday Night Miracle. Thank you Santana for letting every Redskins fan joke those overconfident Cowboys fans that went to bed early.
–In their most recent meeting, the Redskins scored 28 points. It was the 31st time that the Redskins have scored somewhere between 21 and 30 points. In case you aren’t familiar with the 1972 NFC Championship Game, perhaps this will get you going on this soggy Friday morning. Eww soggy, what a weird word.
–And finally, the 31 or more point range. Last Thanksgiving’s romping was the 17th the Redskins have put up more than 31 points. When the Redskins get around that range, the Cowboys going running to the closest equipment bin looking for earmuffs.
So, how many will it be this weekend?
