Pierre Garcon wants a photo credit.
Garcon and Josh Morgan appeared in the men’s issue of Capitol File magazine as part of “13 of Washington’s most distinguished men in media, sports, gastronomy, and the arts.”
“They basically had it set up like story time with Pierre,” Morgan said. “He really couldn’t think of anything to say.”
Like against Oakland, when his touchdown grab gave the Redskins their first lead of the season, Garcon made the crucial play.
Leaning on his intimate knowledge of coming-of-age comedies from the late ‘90s, the receiver broke the silence with a reference from “American Pie” that cracked up the subjects.
The resulting photograph landed on a two-page spread spotlighting fashion and celebrating each athlete’s chosen charities. Garcon joked that he wanted his due.
“I had to tell a joke to get everybody to laugh to make the picture turn out great, so I think I should take a little bit of credit,” Garcon said. “At the bottom of the page where it says photographer, I think it should be slash Pierre Garcon says joke to make the guys laugh.”
Garcon went on to say the photographer was “great” and impressed him with a variety of filters for his lenses.
I’ve always wondered what happens to the clothes from photo shoots and movies. I assumed the high profile stars get to keep the wardrobe as compensation.
I was wrong.
Garcon said while he enjoyed his $7,900 Villi suit, he had to give it back, which makes him one more victim of declining journalism budgets around the world.
When asked who was more stylish, Garcon complimented Morgan on his arsenal of socks and shoes, but wouldn’t concede to his fellow receiver.
“When it’s time to dress up, dress up, I think I might take anyone on the team,” said Garcon, who favors three-piece suits.
Morgan said he was “one of the best to do it” because of his heritage. The District’s history as a hoops hotbed makes basketball shoes especially important.
“I’m from D.C.,” he said. “That’s what we do.”
