Kickers are like algebra nerds. They like to remove variables.

According to Mike Shanahan, the Redskins expect Kai Forbath back from a right groin injury on Sunday night at Dallas.

Forbath said AT&T Field, where a closed roof and artificial turf provide consistent conditions for his feet, is the perfect venue for his return. The absence of wind, mud, or rain is a plus, but Forbath said the he has mojo he can’t explain at the stadium, which he saw as a member of the Cowboys in the 2011 preseason.

“In my experience, the ball flies pretty well (there),” he said.

In one regular season game of dome experience, a 38-31 victory in Dallas last year, Forbath made a 48-yard field goal, hit all five of his extra point attempts and tallied three touchbacks.

In looking for his first made field goal of the season, Forbath said he won’t alter his approach.

“I’m not going to change anything,” he said. “I’m just going to do exactly what I did the last year or so and not try to change anything with my mechanics.”
