What’s better than spending a Saturday night with the family watching Despicable Me on the biggest screen in the Washington, D.C. area at the home of your favorite football team?

Exactly, nothing is! And the little ones will have a chance to dress up as like the lovable minions too.

Clearly we need to set some rules. Rule No. 1: have fun!

The Washington Redskins Kids Club will host its fourth annual Kids Club Movie Night at FedExField on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 6-9 p.m., transforming the stadium into the largest movie theater in the Washington, D.C. area.

Orakpo Leads To Sleepless Nights In OAK

What happens when you unleash a 6-4, 257-pound linebacker who loves to feast on his favorite dish of quarterback on a silver and black target that doesn’t blend in with the surroundings?

Four sacks.

Now in his fifth year with the Washington Redskins, Brian Orakpo is as terrorizing as ever. In practice his legendary wildman work ethic gets even Mike Shanahan to crack a smile, ramping up the intensity and refusing to take a lackadaisical approach to the game he’s loved ever since his first Pop Warner snap.

Through recreational leagues, grade school and the University of Texas, he’s had some memorable games, but none quite like the one he had on December 13th, 2009 against the Oakland Raiders.

Sunday, the two-time Pro Bowler will return to the same place, sans an all grass field this go-round, where he mowed through Oakland to a career day.

Whether it’s John Madden vs. George Allen, Super Bowl XVIII, their unorthodoxly dressed fans or their most successfully period running parallel to the Redskins decade of dominance, the Oakland Raiders are more than just a team the Washington Redskins say hello to every four years.

Last season, the Redskins returned to the top of the NFC East heap for the first time in 13 years, signaling a turn in the franchise’s woes. Oakland appeared in Super Bowl XXXVII following the 2002 season, but hasn’t made the playoffs since. Now they go against one another in 2013 with early playoff implications on the line. The Redskins (0-3) must win to stay afloat in the NFC East, while the Raiders (1-2) trail the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos in the AFC West and need this game to keep pace.

Dating back to their first matchup in 1970, a rumble and tumble affair that had 1970’s football written all over it, here are some of the best images from their series history:

VIDEO: Will Montgomery Google+ Hangout

Posted by Stephen Czarda on September 27, 2013 – 10:26 am

Capture

Always an afterthought with the media, the offensive line is one of the most important units in terms of success rate. If you have a great offensive line, then chances are you’ll have a great offense too.

The Redskins have both and it all starts with veteran center Will Montgomery.

Montgomery was the latest Redskin to sit down with a collection of lucky Redskins fans as part of the team’s Google+ Hangout Series and talked about this guy he works with real closely.

No not me. That quarterback that won AP Offensive Rookie of the Year—Robert Griffin III.

While being a dream of most Redskins fans (to play offensive line of course—jeez you’re so lucky Will), they asked him other hard-hitting questions.

Here’s what they were:

Storylines The Raiders Are Following

On Sunday, the Washington Redskins will travel to the Bay Area for the first time in four seasons when they play the Oakland Raiders.

Being the last game until the Bye Week, there are plenty of storylines to follow but none more important than getting the first win of the season. Entering 2013 with high expectations enhanced by an NFC East title, keeping all of the key playmakers from a season ago despite the salary cap penalty and a draft class that filled holes and added quality depth, the Redskins were expected to challenge for the top record in the NFC.

While they are off to their worst start since 2001 at 0-3, the burgundy and gold have plenty of time to put the first three weeks of the season behind them and win. It all starts in Oakland.

Winning would do wonders for confidence before facing arch nemesis Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.

Anyway, here are some storylines that local Oakland reporters and national outlets are following. I didn’t include any fashion magazines pieces on what’s the recommended silver and black face paint combination to go along with those big ole shoulder spikes the fans wear. But if you request it, maybe I’ll change my tune.
