Redskins Salute To Play 60 Social Wrap

[Editor’s Note: One of the biggest misunderstandings of the NFL calendar is the Tuesday off day. Teams are required to give players one day off from football activities each week, and Tuesday is the standard day (except for the Dolphins, who inexplicably chose Thursday).

On Tuesdays, there is nothing mandatory, unless it is coming in to get treatment, or whatever the case may be. It is very quiet around Redskins Park and players are permitted to do whatever they need to do in order to prepare themselves for the week ahead.

That is also the day that many players choose to devote time to the community, working closely with the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation to enrich the lives of their fans. Players do not choose to do things in the community vs. going to practice or unit meetings, they choose to give back vs. anything else they might like to do on their day off.

So just keep that in mind when it comes to off day activities. Everyone wants the Redskins to get on a winning streak, but there is something admirable about spending the one day off per week giving it back to the fans that make the NFL possible.]

Yesterday, the Washington Redskins took a short beak from preparing for the Oakland Raiders to give back to a very special cause, the kickoff event for the “Salute To Service Play 60 Military Challenge.”

Here’s a recap of the social media surrounding the event, complete with @Redskins coverage, Redskins players, Cheerleaders and media. Check it out:
